Elder Fraud Alert: Marin County Scams Lead to Arrests

In February 2025, Marin County detectives arrested two individuals in separate elder fraud schemes—both involved suspects posing as FBI agents to deceive seniors. Scammers stole $25,000 from one victim in a "courier-style" scam that pressured them to withdraw and hand over cash.

These crimes are a reminder that elder abuse isn't always physical—it's emotional and financial, too.

If someone calls claiming to be from law enforcement and demands money or valuables—stop and verify. Seniors and their families must stay informed and alert.
