Fall Prevention Starts with Listening to Seniors
By Justice For Our Parents
Los Angeles Elder Care Facilities

During Falls Prevention Awareness Week, it's important to remember that protecting older adults begins with communication. Seniors often notice subtle changes in their balance, mobility, or confidence long before family members do. Creating space for those conversations can help identify concerns early and encourage safer, more personalized approaches to care.
Caregivers may want to ask questions such as:
- Have you felt unsteady or worried about falling lately?
- Are there certain activities that feel harder than they used to?
- Have you stopped doing anything because you're afraid of falling?
- Is there anything that would help you feel safer and more independent?
Actively and intentionally listening to older adults and involving them in decisions about their care helps promote both safety and dignity. Protecting independence starts with treating seniors as active participants in their own healthcare.
