H.R. 7929: Holding Nursing Homes Accountable
By Justice For Our Parents

In 2024, the U.S. Congress introduced H.R. 7929 – The Elder Justice Reauthorization and Modernization Act, a bill designed to strengthen protections for older adults and crack down on abuse, neglect, and exploitation in long-term care facilities. Assigned to the House Ways and Means Committee and referred to the Subcommittee on Work and Welfare, the bill is officially progressing.
If passed, H.R. 7929 would:
- Reauthorize and expand funding for the Elder Justice Act
- Increase oversight of nursing homes and direct care providers
- Support adult protective services (APS) and caregiver workforce development
- Create more accessible pathways for reporting and addressing elder abuse
Justice For Our Parents supports legislation protecting our most vulnerable—and we fight daily for families harmed by the system meant to care for them. To learn more about our elder abuse attorney services, please click here.
