How the Rule of Law Protects Older Adults
By Justice For Our Parents
Los Angeles Elder Care Facilities

The rule of law is the principle that everyone—including individuals, corporations, and government officials—is subject to the same laws and legal protections. It helps ensure fairness, accountability, and equal access to justice, giving people confidence that their rights will be protected and that wrongdoing can be challenged through independent courts.
For older adults, the rule of law provides important safeguards. It helps ensure nursing homes and healthcare providers can be held accountable, protects access to Medicare and Medicaid appeals, and gives victims of abuse and neglect the ability to seek justice. Preserving these protections helps support dignity, independence, and the rights of vulnerable seniors.
