National Fall Prevention Awareness Week: September 22–28, 2025
By Justice For Our Parents

Falls are one of the leading causes of injury and death among older adults in the U.S.—and many of them are preventable.
Preventing Falls: What Good Facilities Should Be Doing
- Assess mobility and fall risk regularlyKeep walkways clear and well-lit
- Install handrails, grab bars, and non-slip flooring
- Supervise residents who need help walking or using mobility aids
- Maintain clean, dry, hazard-free floors
- Respond promptly to call lights or alarms
Nursing homes and assisted living facilities are legally obligated to protect residents from preventable harm. If a fall happens because of inadequate staffing, failure to help with mobility, or unsafe environments, that may be elder neglect—and you may have grounds for legal action.
Justice For Our Parents believes fall prevention is a matter of accountability when care facilities fail to act responsibly. To learn more about our elder abuse attorney services, please click here.
